The premise
A culinary lifestyle series that follows the adventures of chef and food stylist Caro Alberts, as she is set loose in the kitchens of everyday South Africans, catering for their special events.
Every episode, Caro arrives at someone’s home and cooks for them using only what she can find in their cupboards, fridge and freezer — plus whatever she has packed in her toolbox. No shopping list, no studio kitchen, no second take on the ingredients. There is a DIY segment in each episode too, turning what is already in the house into something for the table.
The result is a cooking show built on improvisation and on the particular pleasure of feeding people in their own space, in Afrikaans, with South African flavours and seasonal ingredients at its centre.
